Shitty internet is shitty.
The internet here sux. First real connection to tumblr in 3 days has overwhelmed me with posts. I’m not even going to try to get through them all.
Skiing has been FANTASTIC. The snow from the Nor’easter made for awesome conditions on Tuesday and today was sunny and amazing. I’m beat after three days.
Winter Break
fromdulltodiva:
Next week will be considered a productive, successful one if I manage to make my bed. Reaching new levels of laziness, y’all.

Strange Moment of the Day
Flipping Channels. Pass by the Weather Channel. Hear the Charlie Brown theme song as the background for the national forecast. Decide I want to actually listen to the music that the Weather Channel is playing. Realize I’m actually 80 years old.

It snows in winter. This shattering discovery has now cast Britain and France...

In Syracuse, December Is Even Snowier Than Usual →
You know it’s a slow news day when…
The New York Times decides to make a story about snow in Syracuse - a non-story - their headline on the website.
No NYU, BUT
I just got into Hofstra Law!!!! Not one of my top choices, but it don’t matter. I’m in law school, bitchezzzzzzz1!!!11!!1!!
Don't think I got into NYU...
Called school and they said that there was a letter for me from them. Just a regular sized letter.
Oh well…good thing I didn’t get my hopes up.
Why the Moon Turns Reddish During a Lunar Eclipse
Earth’s thick, dust-filled atmosphere filters the sunlight shining through it, resulting in the rusty hue of a total lunar eclipse—the same reason the sun looks reddish during sunrises and sunsets.
“If you were on the moon during totality, you would look back at the Earth and see a ring of red light around the perimeter—the red light of all the sunsets and sunrises going on at Earth...
It is the first time in 372 years that a lunar eclipse also marks the beginning...
– The New York Times
First time in 372 years since it’s happened on a winter solstice. Totally makes it worth staying up for.
Back home.
After being in upstate NY for the past month and Montreal over the weekend, I find this 29 degree, no-snow-on-the-ground weather rather toasty and comfortable.
PS Still waiting to hear from NYU about whether or not I’m in law school. The suspense may actually be shaving years off of my life. Here’s my thinking: they either sent the decision to my school address by mistake (which is...

Another successful Quebecois weekend in the books
This is a pretty fun and tiring city. Looking forward to getting back ASAP.
So last night...
We went to this club in Montreal called The Imperial Room. It was kind of bizarre actually, but GUESS WHO WAS FUCKING THERE?! VINNY. Yes. That Vinny. I was in the presence of the Jersey Shore last evening and ‘twas glorious.
Montréal!! Part 2.
Went back to Brutopia last night. As awesome as ever.
So yea, about this hostel…effing awesome. $20 Canadian per night gets you free breakfast, free dinner, free wifi, and free lockup for your stuff. All is well with the Earth.
However, this silly people here don’t seem to realize that when it snows, you need to plow the streets and sidewalks. Walking around is quite an adventure,...
Zomg
Best hostel EVER….everything is freeeeee

I just sent my antrho prof a not so nice email...
After doing extremely well on my final and getting a full participation grade, together making 25% of my final grade, my grade only went up 2.2%, which did not get me over the hump from a B+ to an A-. Normally I would just simply be angry and question the prof’s math, but probably not write them an email. However, when there’s the potential that law schools will want to see my grades...

Oh and by the way
Tea is useless in helping me wake up in the morning (feeling like P. Diddy…).
Heart's a-pounding....
So I checked NYU’s online applications status checker thingy this morning and it says that my decision letter has been sent. All this means is that I didn’t get wait listed, because NYU only sends wait list notification by email. Therefore, I’ve been either rejected or accepted to NYU Law (probably rejected, though. Let’s be realistic.).
The annoying part, however, is that...
Stem Cell Transplant Cures HIV in "Berlin" Patient →

Wait, but stem cell research is bad, right?
————
On the heels of World AIDS Day comes a stunning medical breakthrough: Doctors believe an HIV-positive man who underwent a stem cell transplant has been cured as a result of the procedure.
Timothy Ray Brown, also known as the “Berlin Patient,” received the transplant in 2007 as part of a lengthy treatment course for leukemia. His...
Snow's back!
And the school’s two main snow removal machines are out of commission. Sounds like a perfect recipe to stay in and study and watch tv all day.
Cliff Lee is Going to the Phillies →
oldtimefamilybaseball:
As TR Sullivan writes:
“Cliff Lee is going to the Philadelphia Phillies, industry sources said Monday night. The Rangers were told Monday night that Lee is going to the Phillies, It is a done deal.”
There are a lot of stunned fans and a lot of money left on the table. But Cliff Lee apparently wants to join baseball’s version of the Harlem Globetrotters because no one...
